Hello from Community Living!

Welcome to Selly Oak. You might have lived here before, or you might be new to the area. In any case, hello!

We are Community Living – a team at the University of Birmingham that is dedicated to maximising your experience of living in Selly Oak.

Settling into a new home always comes with its challenges, and we understand that those challenges are more apparent than ever in the current circumstances. However, we want you to remember that there’s loads of support available to you (via us and other great services from the University and Guild of Students). You can find out more about these by watching the videos dedicated to your Welcome for 2021, which are listed throughout this page or by joining the many support services at our Welcome Back event as detailed below.

Your Community Wardens

Your Community Wardens are a team of 8 current students, working to make your time living in the community the best it can be. We want to work with you to make where you live safer, cleaner, greener and more cohesive.

You can get in touch with us via email, social media, or just say ‘hi’ when you see us out and about in Selly Oak!

Junkbusters is a joint project between the Guild of Students and the University. Every year, we go out into Selly Oak and collect your unwanted clothes, books and household items to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Since 2011, we have raised over £135,000!

Keep an eye on our webpage and the Community Wardens social media across the year to find out how you can donate your unwanted items
